June 2017 FoodVentures: Ling Nam, BrrrGrrr, Canto, Sage

“Where to eat in Baguio?” is a question oft asked that, in hindsight, makes me want to scoff a bit. Several years ago that question would have made me pause and think hard for a while, because there aren’t too many options. At present, however, that question would still make me pause, but for an entirely different reason: it’s because there are simply too many options, you’d have to weigh them and choose a real good one. Funny, too, because at every turn, you’d find a place to eat.

May 2017 FoodVentures: Balbacua, Vizco’s, Cafe Veniz, Amare, Yasuragi

Dining out was never really my thing, but I suppose being adventurous about food comes with age, at least in my case. And it helps that I am surrounded by people who are willing to try new things and new places. And it helps that there seems to be no shortage of places to eat in Baguio City and La Trinidad. So here are my May 2017 foodventures.

April 2017 FoodVentures: Il Padrino, Meow Meow Cafe, Lemon & Olives, Sage

If I were to be serious about blogging about food, I’d definitely suck at it. I’m too un-picky about food, and am easily satisfied so being a food critique is out. Also, I’m not really the type to eat out often, or venture somewhere out of the way to check out a new place to eat, at least not on my own or purposefully so. Still, as I was going through image folders and cleaning up files I stumbled upon some photos that I thought I should add on my blog, you know, for future reference.

FoodVentures: Trying The Sili Ice Cream (feat. 1st Colonial of Legazpi, Albay)

If there is one food or snack that is often readily associated with summer (and summer heat, to be more specific), it’s probably ice cream. But if you’re tired of the usual flavors and they all just seem, well, vanilla to you, then it’s time to look for something different. Something with a zing, perhaps? Something like the chill and spiciness of the Sili Ice Cream, right where its home is in Legazpi City, Albay.

Whalespotting 1: The Butanding Adventure in Donsol, Sorsogon

It has been raining real hard the past several days out in my area. Just a couple of nights ago, it rained the whole time, with lots of thunder-rumbling and lightning strikes in between. AND IT’S STILL SUPPOSED TO BE SUMMER WHAT THE. So I suppose that means summer is coming to a close. Before the month of May ends, though, let me make a series of summer-y posts. It’s a throwback of sorts, since it’s about the first time I saw whales for the first time. In their natural habitat.

La Trinidad Eats: Half Cup Cafe and Gasats RestoCafe and Bakery

I was going through my phone and was amazed at how 98% of all the photos I took with it were of food. (I know the reason for that. I haven’t gone out exploring much during the past 3 months, except for eating ‘out’, which explains the kind of ‘variety’ on my phone’s Camera Roll.) So I figured why not blog about these ‘foodventures’? For this round of #foodiefriday, it’s about Half Cup and Gasats RestoCafe and Bakery.

Great White Water Rafting Adventure in CDO: Seconds, Please

Here’s the thing about making plans: as much as I acknowledge how important it is and how it can make your life (or, OK, your schedule) marginally better, it gets really frustrating when things fall through and the plan does not happen. You see, today I was supposed to be attending a wedding somewhere warm and shining, but then migraine came attacking, and it’s just great timing~ (hey, that rhymed!). Not cool, M, not cool at all. So while nursing this unwelcome guest, I thought I’d just hit y’all up with this 3rd post about white water rafting.

Go Wild: White Water Rafting With Davao Wildwater Adventure

Summer officially started in the Philippines just a couple of days ago. Or, at least, that’s what has been declared by the country’s weather bureau. But with how the climate and weather have been unpredictable lately (*insert Jaws theme here* climate change, anyone?) that pronouncement is irrelevant. See, when it gets real hot and warm, it’s summer. When it pours in the afternoon, the rainy days are here. But don’t let that burst your bubble. Continue to make fun plans. And go wild. Like how we did on this “time out of time” during our Davao visit not too long ago.  Continue reading “Go Wild: White Water Rafting With Davao Wildwater Adventure”

White Water Rafting In Cagayan De Oro: My First Time

It’s April, everyone! As much as I am willing to be fooled that the first quarter of 2017 has already come and gone, sadly, that “fooling day” has also… well, come and gone. So it’s time to face up to reality. Yes, it’s April. And yes, time flies so darn fast… but hey, that doesn’t mean we can’t fly with it~ But if, at the moment, you’re stuck at home, you can try recalling those past summers, and how you spent them. Like I’m going to do right now, remembering the first time I tried white water rafting Continue reading “White Water Rafting In Cagayan De Oro: My First Time”

Why You Should Visit Masungi Georeserve in Rizal

We all have different reasons for visiting new places. The first, obviously, is to satisfy our curiosity about that place. Another is to satisfy that perennial itch on your feet to be constantly on the move, preferably stepping on unfamiliar ground. Another, still, is to increase your know-how about that place, and the world, in general, seeing as travel is something that “enriches” you and makes you wealthier, “experience-wise”. Of course, recently, some people do it for bragging rights, and to make their Instagram feeds. Let me add another one: to celebrateAnd that’s exactly what we did during our memorable visit to the Masungi Georeserve in Baras, Rizal.

When in Baguio…: Kalay-at Adventures & Locked In

If I needed a more persuasive reminder that the world is one huuuuuuuuge place, it would be the realization that I still don’t know everything there is to know (and see) about the place I am currently living in or working at. There’s still a lot I haven’t seen or don’t know of La Trinidad and Baguio City, and that’s a crying shame. But, it’s those little discoveries – or rediscoveries – that spice things up a little.

Mt. Binacayan of Rodriguez, Rizal: My Year-end Climb

It hasn’t been that long since the Rooster crowed and the new year began, but I bet some of you are still remembering some of the good (and not-so-good) things that happened in 2016. See, I think that’s one of the great things about going out and experiencing things: you get to reminisce them later on, and you get to still feel grateful, no matter how crappy the rest of the year was. It’s the rule on offset at work. Oh, and Happy New Year.  Continue reading “Mt. Binacayan of Rodriguez, Rizal: My Year-end Climb”
