Coron in August: Twin Lagoon & Kayangan Lake
El Nido has the Big Lagoon and the Small Lagoon. Coron, on the other hand, has the Twin Lagoons. Coron also happens to be where you can find the cleanest lake in the country. Personally, Kayangan Lake is the place I look most forward to revisiting next week. Continue reading “Coron in August: Twin Lagoon & Kayangan Lake”
Coron in August: Siete Pecados & Dicantuman
In just a couple of days, Baguio will once again be more crowded than ever, (no) thanks to the Panagbenga, or the annual Flower Festival. Fact: more than half of the Baguio population leave the city when the tourists descend. I call it the “displacement method” at work. I will be one of the displaced ones, heading off to beautiful Coron. Continue reading “Coron in August: Siete Pecados & Dicantuman”
Coron in August: Lusong Shipwreck & Marile Coral Garden
If there is one thing that is sure to ruin even the best laid plans, it’s rain. However, if you are in a place as sublime in its beauty as Coron, the raindrops hardly matter. (I am writing this post as I am listening to news about the magnitude 4 quake that rocked my world – and I don’t say that lightly – this morning as I was headed for work. It lasted for a couple of seconds, but darn if it didn’t make my heart jump out my throat!) Continue reading “Coron in August: Lusong Shipwreck & Marile Coral Garden”
Coron in August: Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hotspring
Taking a quick break from my Japan posts to talk about this trip to beautiful Coron with my awesome girlfriends at work (hey that’s rare, working with people you actually like! Haha!) several months ago. More than several, actually, because as you will see from the photos, this trip was BEFORE Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck the area and wrought destruction. Visit Benguet: 2015 Calendar of Activities
Thinking of heading up north some time this year for an adventure? Why not try my beautiful province of Benguet?
In its bid to become more involved, specifically in eco-tourism, and in view of the upcoming ASEAN integration, Benguet is stepping up its game. Here’s a tentative list of the activities that you can join in the coming months. Continue reading “Visit Benguet: 2015 Calendar of Activities”
Panagbenga 2015 Calendar of Activities
Herein is a calendar of the events for the celebration of Panagbenga 2015, the 20th Flower Festival of Baguio City. Continue reading “Panagbenga 2015 Calendar of Activities”
Bohol: Panglao Island
Seeing a couple of blog posts about beautiful Batanes in the past couple of days has reawakened my desire to see it to a once-again burning flame. For now, a number of factors are still making it elusive. Still, I aim to be able to step foot on it, somehow, some way, some time in the future. When I do, I will be able to cross out another one from my growing mental list of places to see before I die. Panglao Island, though… I must admit it was never on that list. 6th Christmas Ed Kapangan, Benguet (Day 2)
The morning of the second day of our Christmas Ed Kapangan adventure began way too early, but with so much excitement for what lies ahead, I do not really mind. (By the way, I hope y’all had a nice Christmas.)

6th Christmas Ed Kapangan, Benguet (Day 1)
Here’s a sad fact: my roots are in Kapangan, but I am not fully acquainted with it, having been born in Baguio and spent most of my life in La Trinidad and Baguio, with the occasional visits to my grandma in Kapangan, and other relatives in Tublay and Atok. I was aware that the Christmas Ed Kapangan (translates to “Christmas in Kapangan”) has been going on annually and, this time, I was especially keen that I join. Before anything else, though, let me just greet you all a very merry Christmas!! Continue reading “6th Christmas Ed Kapangan, Benguet (Day 1)”
Wasteland No More: Birthday Trek to Mt. Pinatubo
Taking a break from my Tokyo posts to make way for this one. You know how others have so-called “birthday posts” on their blogs? Well, this is my version of that, haha! Continue reading “Wasteland No More: Birthday Trek to Mt. Pinatubo”
Being Conquered By Mt. Pulag
On my first climb at Mt. Pulag, I overheard one of the journalists gripe about how many who reach the summit go “I conquered Mt. Pulag!”. He said that YOU don’t conquer Mt. Pulag; Mt. Pulag conquers YOU. I agree. How, on God’s green earth, can you expect to ever conquer a mountain? And how can you boast to have been able to conquer something that doesn’t even care that you did?
After writing that post about Kabayan’s Four Lakes, I suddenly felt the urge to dig through my hard drive for old photos and, what do you know, I still have them! So that spurred me to write this post about my three jaunts up Mt. Pulag.
Ambuklao Adventure III: A Photodiary
One sure sign that you truly enjoyed an experience: you have a hard time letting go of it. I was randomly going through the photos uploaded by others who were with us during the Ambuklao Adventure III last October 24 to 26, and I just knew this deserved a third post, if only to wrap it up. This photodiary will never do justice with the amount of fun we had during this enriching experience, but I hope it shows, even just a little, how much it did.

The Four Lakes of Mystical Kabayan
We might not realize it, but we all have our “no-fail-places-to-go-to”. It’s the kind of place that you can go to repeatedly and never fail to be satisfied, awed, or amazed. You just want to keep coming back, no matter what the circumstances because it just never fails to make a positive impact on you. It’s probably a coffee shop, a restaurant, a certain beach, or a specific town you always go to for a quick getaway. I, too, have a shortlist, and on it is mystical Kabayan. Continue reading “The Four Lakes of Mystical Kabayan”
Mt. Purgatory-Mangisi Traverse 2013 (Part 3)
At this moment, a group of adventurous spirits have started their 2-day Mt. Purgatory-Mangisi Traverse in Bokod. A~ah. If not for certain circumstances, we’d have likely been part of that group. Maybe next year? Anyhoo, this post is all about Day 3, the final day, of our very own traverse last October 20, 2013.
(This is the last installment of my series of posts about the Mt. Purgatory-Mangisi Traverse.)
