First things first. HAPPY 108th BIRTHDAY, BAGUIO!!!! Why did you have to be soooo rainy, tho? Ok. Let’s get down to business. If I’m going to be completely technical about it, my August FoodVentures would be much much longer, considering how I was in South Korea for the last week of the month. But those foodventures deserve their own post, which is why I’m just going to be adding here the few ones I’ve had during the first couple of weeks.
One is no longer new, since Ze Creamery has been featured in a previous monthly foodventures post, but I still think it deserves a mention right here.
Also, I suggest you check out the short vlog at the end of this post, featuring Sweet Stop and RnB Cafe.
Make a stop at Sweet Stop
Sweet Stop started out as a small stall in front of the La Azotea Building in Upper Session Road, selling cupcakes and other sweet pastries and confectioneries. A personal favorite of mine (and many other customers) is their Cassava Cake.
They opened another branch at the Cedar Peak, right across UB Square and the crossing to the University of Baguio, calling the shop Sweet Stop Too.
Now it has expanded. No longer just a stall with a glass shelf in front of La Azotea, it has transformed into a coffee shop with a substantial dining area, occupying what used to be Chris Sports.
Aside from their usual offerings, which included cakes, cupcakes and other sweets (hence the name), they now offer all-day breakfast, pasta, salad, and rice meals. Click on the thumbnails below to view the menu and their prices.
Since we were there on a Saturday morning, we tried their breakfast meals. Ate Raquel tried their Mom’s Longanisa Rice, which had Baguio’s longanisa in it. And she paired it with their hot chocolate. Which was teeming with mini-marshmallows.
Her verdict? It was too sweet. Maybe because the marshmallows compounded the innate sweetness of the chocolate? I was never really into choco drinks, so I didn’t attempt to taste it. Perhaps for people with sweet tooth this would be perfect.
What I ordered was their beef tapa, which was sprinkled with sesame seeds. I love how tender the meat was, and it went very well with the garlic topped on the steaming white rice.
The Cafe Latte was… just your usual latte.
Now let’s talk a bit about the place. I bet this place would be hopping and crowded on midday and evenings. But in the mornings, there were only a number of us having breakfast.
The place was spacious, with the tables spaced widely apart. If you’re up for dining while viewing the pedestrians leisurely (or not) walking up and down Session Road, you can sit on one of the tall stools on the side.
Sweet Stop is located on the ground floor of La Azotea Building at Upper Session Road, Baguio City. Check them out on Facebook.
Going green at Ze Creamery
And by green, it’s not something “healthy” or “organic”. I meant MATCHA!
YESSSS, I finally got to try their Matcha Freakshake, which was unavailable the first time we went there. It was a no-brainer, I had to pick that one off the menu.
You’ve probably seen my previous FoodVenture with those huge freakshakes tghat are positively SINFUL and packed with calories.
It’s not at all different with the Matcha Freakshake.
Look, guys, it’s got matcha mochi mini-buns, whipped cream, strawberry-flavored ice cream, rice crispies, and rich matcha-flavored shake inside! Not to mention that white chocolate on top.
And what has become a staple appetizer for us whenever we come here, the Salted Egg Potato Chips.
Presenting… the Sriracha Wings!!!!
Chicken wings soaked through with sriracha sauce.
Surprisingly, it’s not so spicy as to be intolerable. At least for some of us.
Anyway, I loved it.

Read and brew at RnB Cafe
I realized I have a lot of things to talk about this cafe, so there will be a separate post for it. Meanwhile, here’s a brief glimpse of what my foodventures in this rooftop cafe is.
RnB stands for “Read and Brew”, which is the name of this coffeeshop located at the Skyzone, or the rooftop, of Porta Vaga Mall at Upper Session Road, Baguio City. It is right above the store that sells organic vegetables and other health food items.
Another attraction of this is the view: it overlooks the Baguio Cathedral.
My first time in this cafe, I tried their Cafe Latte and Creamy Pesto. WINNER. I’ve officially found my favorite pesto so far.
Also, their Green Tea Latte was exactly to my taste. Not too strong aftertaste, just the right hint of green tea, just the way I like it. I had a sip of their Americano, and it was… well, Americano.
Their bulgogi sandwich, using half of a baguette, and paired with thinly sliced potato crisps sprinkled NOT with salt, but with that korean red powder spice thingy… which I don’t know the exact name of. So the spice really kicks in, even in small doses.
Needless to say, I love it.
The one below the photo is their Sandwich a la Cubana, which is a tweak of the usual Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Again, I love it. They were so generous with the cheese~~~
Look forward to my future post on this place, with more photos.

And a selection unfit for babies
Finally, my group of friends invaded our friend Lorie’s home for a baby shower, since she’s due in September. And this was part of the spread:
Briefly, the cake is the Ube Cake from Ina’s Cakes (check their Facebook page). It’s a small bakery about five minutes walk away from our house, and I personally love their chocolate mousse cake.
The Vegetable Pizza and the Cheese Pizza are from Future Diner at Hotel Supreme in Baguio City. The bibingka in cups are from Marsha’s in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, and the Mango Bars are from the Trappist Monastery in Guimaras, Iloilo. Finally, those heaps of siomai are from Siomai House. XDDD
Egad, we love to eat, don’t we.
Here’s the FoodVentures Vlog I was talking about.
See you in next month’s FoodVentures!!
And more birthdays to come, Baguio City!
